Swing and a miss: Alex Ferguson blamed his players for not involving Robin van Persie enough

Marouane Fellaini was virtually unplayable against Manchester United

Sir Alex Ferguson started the game with Robin van Persie on the bench but he blamed his players for not getting the best out of his £24million striker when introducing him in the 68th minute of their 1-0 defeat at Goodison Park.
The outstanding Fellaini scored the game’s only goal, his towering header condemning United to their first opening weekend reverse since 2004 and Ferguson demanded his squad wise up to get the best out of Van Persie.
